The Chamber Board of Directors Make Changes to the Roster

The Huntington Beach Chamber Board of Directors Elect Bruce Berman as Chair-Elect and Add John Villa and Steve Holtz as Newest Board Members

In a monthly Board meeting held in September, the directors made a motion to elect Bruce Berman as the incoming Chairman and elect John Villa as a first-time Board Member. The board voted unanimously in favor of both elected positions. Bruce Berman, who has served on the Chamber’s Board of Directors for the past two years, will take on the role of chairman at the beginning of the next year in 2021.

Both board members have a wealth of experience serving on other boards, and come from different career fields, with a plethora of expertise and fresh perspectives to offer.

Chair-Elect Bruce Berman has been an active member of the Board of Directors of The Council for Resource Development (C.R.D ), a national organization representing 1200 community colleges, including holding the position of vice president of finance (2005-2007), active in C.R.D Regions 5 and 3 events and is past Chairman of the College Committee on Resource Development (Ontario). He was on the Board of the Association of Canadian Alumni Administrators - Ontario Region, and was a founding member of the College Committee on Advancement for the Province of Ontario. He has been an active member of Chambers of Commerce, Rotary, and other community groups in the communities where he has worked and resided.

New Board Member John Villa has an MBA with an emphasis in Technology Management. He has developed and managed strategies, goals, and budgets at the company, division and departmental levels. His background and experience cover logistics, contracts management, senior negotiator and intellectual property in Aerospace, Consumer Electronics, IP Management and University settings. He has worked with and performed pro bono work for startups in the medical device, health products, consumer electronics, high-throughput screening, and fuel cell device technologies. He is currently the Executive Director for the Huntington Beach Wetlands Conservancy, CFO and Officer for the Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center and Board Secretary for the Orange County River Park Group.

Additionally, in the most recent Board meeting held in October, the directors approved of Steve Holtz to join the Board as an ex-officio (non-voting) member. Steve is currently the Deputy Director of Community Development for the City of Huntington Beach. He is a fifth generation southern Californian who loves to travel and experience the world. During his career, Steve has worked for medium to large cities in Los Angeles and Orange counties, specializing in community development, affordable housing, code enforcement, neighborhood revitalization, and real estate. In his career of public service, nothing satisfies him more than meeting people, developing relationships, solving problems, and building better communities.
